HARK Ideas

H.A.R.K Night might seem daunting, especially when trying to come up with ideas, but Random Acts of Kindness don’t need to be expensive or complicated – in fact, many of them are simple and easy!  Here are some ideas to get you started!

Kindness Ideas

1. smile and say hello to a stranger.

2. write a handwritten note to a friend.

3. instead of just thinking it, verbally compliment someone.

4. ask someone ‘how are you?’ and mean it – and listen.

5. call someone you haven’t talked to in a while and listen.

6. offer someone else your seat on the bus/train.

7. visit a senior center or nursing home and talk to the residents.

8. say thank you to people for routine things.

9. tape a candy cane to an ATM machine.

10. pick up trash around your neighborhood or workplace.

11. leave your favorite book in a public place with a note.

12. send a nice card to a family member, just because.

13. take time to read to a child.

14. shovel a neighbor’s driveway or sidewalk.

15. hold the elevator for someone.

16. cook dinner for a busy parent or family.

17. introduce yourself to someone you always see around but rarely speak to.

18. give a $1 lottery ticket to a stranger.

19. put up anonymous, inspiring post-it notes for strangers to find.

20. leave chocolate for your co-worker.

21. one time, stop what you are focused on to help someone else.

22. write a ‘thank you’ letter to your parents.

23. fill up the tip jar at a restaurant without ordering anything.

24. be a courteous driver.

25. leave a collection of positive news clippings in a waiting room.
